Seamless Forged Rings

Viking produces mandrel forged rings and sleeves Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. Our assortment of saddles and varying sizes of mandrels enable us to offer an array of ring sizes and styles of seamless rolled rings with varying face heights.

Disks

Forged Disks

Viking can produce forged disks from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. The maximum disk we can forge is 26 inch diameter by 6 1/2 inches in length. Maximum sizes may vary depending on material grade.

BAR

Forged Bars

Viking produces forged bars from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. We can produce a wide variety of cross-sectional geometries including round, rectangular, hexagon, octagon, and flat bar with a maximum length of 100 inches. Maximum size and weight may vary depending on material grade.

BLOCKS

Forged Blocks

Viking produces forged blocks from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. The maximum block Viking can forge is 2000 pounds. Maximum size and weight may vary depending on material grade.

Shafts

Forged Shafts and Step Shafts

Viking can forge an assortment of shafting configurations from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. Utilizing the skills of our hammersmiths, our craftsman can forge shafts with numerous steps in an assortment of configurations saving material and machining time. Additionally, a forged shaft will benefit from a continuous grain flow following the configuration of the finished shaft. We can forge shafts with a maximum diameter of 12 inches at 100 inches in length.

Hubs and Spindles

Forged Hubs and Spindles

Viking can produce a large variety of hubs and spindles from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. . The majority of Hubs and Spindles are forged using in house designed tooling on open dies. Due to fact the material is formed inside a tool the finished forging is near net shape with very close dimensional tolerances and a smooth surface finish. Additionally the forge process and tooling are designed in a manner to yield a continuous grain flow oriented to follow the shape of the finished part. Maximum size and weight is dependent upon ...

Upset-Head

Upset Head Forging

Using in house designed tooling Viking can produce a variety of upset head forgings from Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels. Maximum size is dependent upon configuration and material grade. Upset head forgings will yield considerable material and time savings as opposed to machining from bar stock. Additionally the head of the forging will reap the benefits of a continuous grain flow following the shape of the head improving its fatigue strength and resistance to impact.

Heat Treat Furnace

Heat Treating

Heat Treating services Viking offers consists of Normalizing, Austenitizing, Quench and Tempering, Stress Relieving, Annealing, Spheroidize Annealing and Precipitation Hardening. Our heat treat furnace pyometry is maintained in accordance with AMS-2750. All of our furnace instrumentation is calibrated quarterly by an independent contractor. Our furnaces utilize digital chart recording or 250mm Strip Chart Recording. Furnace charts can be provided upon customer request. Viking's in house heat treating capabilities can satisfy just about any requirement our customers have, in the rare occasion a heat treat requirement can not be fulfilled by our in house capabilities Viking has close working relationships with near by commercial ...

Machining

Machining

Viking can supply forgings in the smooth forged or rough machined condition. Our general rough machine tolerance is 1/4" over finish - i.e., 1/8" envelope unless otherwise specified by the customer. We can rough machine any of the forgings we produce, the maximum parameters of our machine shop equipment is well over our maximum forging envelope.

Saw-Cutting

Saw Cutting

Viking's saw cutting department is dedicated to forging production, however with 7 band saws we have enough saw cutting capacity to offer saw cutting services when needed by the customer. Our maximum Saw Cutting Cross-Section is 26 inches.

Forging-Conversion-1-Furnace-Charge

Metal Forging Conversion Services

We also offer material conversion services. We can convert your Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Low Alloy Steel, (Ferritic, Austenitic, Martensitic and Precipitation Hardenable Stainless Steel), High Temperature Alloys, Nickel-Copper Alloys, Maraging, Nickel, Copper, Titanium, and Low Expansion Steels, to the geometry that suits your needs. Our craftsman have smith forged small experimental ingots into forged bar for metallurgical research and development to industrial material conversions from a few hundred pounds to 2000 pounds using our custom built manipulators and 3000 pound hammer.

King-Portable-Brinell

Testing

All forgings Viking produces are checked for hardness. Our Brinell Hardness testing equipment is calibrated semi annually by an independent contractor. Viking uses independent testing labs for all other non-destructive and destructive mechanical testing, as well as metallurgical testing.
